Film Review: “Marilyn Myller” A Short Film

The Hands of Marilyn Myller the Wizard

Marilyn Maketh and she taketh awayeth. Now to watch the film. As I do that I will see animation and the explosion of the Universe into creation. What happens after that has been a debate since humans could think and reason with reasonable and irrational thoughts. No judgments as to what is who and who is what. Watch the film in the form of extremely fine animation of what I have only just begun to absorb. I need to watch again to better evaluate what my evaluation may be. As I do that I will write of my interpretation without trying to influence in any way anyone’s personal beliefs.

What was she thinking? And those who encouraged her. Did creating the Universes have a committee to decide how the Universe should begin and then how it should become multiplied in to many Universes. No committee could have created the Universe. It must evolve. Not be smashed to bit after it is created. Billions of eons it has been and will be into infinity.

Interesting film. Ponder your reaction.

A year in the making, the full six minute stopmotion short features the voice of Josie Long, one zillion hand carved tiny things, literally tens of carved foam puppets, two eye fulls of in-camera, long-exposure light trickery and a pair of tiny dolphins, smooching.

  • Talk about “creative destruction!” Quite an interesting piece. I am undecided if the film is meant as a commentary on creation stories or just a creative endeavor on its own.

In either case, I found this intriguing. Thanks for bringing it to our attention.

  • Thank you Larry for your insight. When I first watched this film I thought she was the creator or we were being given that as an option. Then she goes into a tantrum. A balance of positive and negative. Creation fits perfectly with destruction. We do try to destroy that which we perceive as unnecessary any longer.

The intent no matter what it is, the film does open up questions and is a thought provoking & magically creative work of art.

    Thanks again Larry,
    Jennifer
