Hip-Hop/poet Charlie Scott, 22, born and raised in Queens, NY. He is a recovering addict, child of two hearing impaired parents, and recently released his first mixtape, Lyrical Therapy.
Charlie has been writing poetry since the age of twelve. He found that during his recovery process at a rehabilitation center, he could combine his passion for words with rhythmic beats. Charlie discovered hip-hop as an outlet to communicate and encourage. Delivering inspiring messages through his outstanding lyrical capability, the young artist is preparing for success. He has positivity. He offers a refreshing genre of positive hip-hop, philosophical words, and raw talent. Listeners say, “I don’t particularly like rap, but I listen to Charlie Scott.”
Charlie recently headlined twice at the legendary, Nuyorican Poets Café, located in the Lower East Side in NYC. Charlie frequently performs at any of Mike Geffner’s music related open mics at The Inspired Word locations throughout NYC. He is producing and performing in a show, Heavy Hitters, featuring two comedians, a poet and another hip-hop artist with details to be announced very soon. If that schedule isn’t busy enough, Charlie is also set to tour local rehabilitation facilities later in 2013 to carry his strong message of experience, strength and hope, incorporated with sentimental music because he states, “Addicts are my people, it’s our job to help each other”.
“My goal is to give recovering addicts a young role model that they can relate to. My meaningful lyrics, original quotes and stories are tactically designed to adjust the listener’s perception, positively. Hip Hop is my escape, and that’s a whole lot healthier than my last one,” said Charlie Scott.
