Never one much for words
You left, solitary
With the sound of a shotgun blast
Your quiet nature laid down perfect cover
It was days before anybody
Went looking for you
By then it was too late
And all that was left was
Your silence

Our family lost our only nephew at the age of 20 under very similar circumstances. His parents and sisters were devastated and we were profoundly saddened.
I wrote a tribute poem and my one son read it. It was the most we could do. Based on the requests from the family, it seemed to have had some merit.
I’m so sorry about your loss, Larry. I know it’s never the intention of the one who takes his or her own life, but it does leave a legacy of grief that I think in many ways is far harder to heal than that of the death of a loved one by accident, murder or illness (all of which I’ve experienced).
Very nice poem. Profoundly sad.
Thank you. It was for a profoundly sad and troubled friend I wish I could have helped more.

Love, poignant, poem.
