Would We Like…?
Would we like people to be free the way it is stated they should be?
Then, cast our hopes upon the wind if we can’t finish we can begin.
Would we like to set the stage; fight injustice and end the rage?
Let us stand and shout on the village green; this is our time this is our theme!
Would we like to lead this land toward that hallowed, elusive Promised Land?
Arise and let our spirits gleam it is our duty to live out the dream.
Would we like to inspire a song by fighting for right against all wrong?
Then, teach the world about the right and rouse them against the on-rushing night.
It is our turn it is our chore.
Let us stand for love and against all war!

Hear, Hear!! Just wonderful, Larry
Thanks T J! Your cheers are music to my ears.
We should sing our own theme song and make a change one step at the time
One step at a time and day by day, it might take a while but where there is a will there is a way.
“Let us stand for love and against all war!” This is profound, Larry, especially since much of the rhetoric heard lately revolves around more wars, new targets, and old targets revisited. This country is war-weary. I am war-weary. May your thoughts ring loud for all to hear. Excellent poem!
This line seemed a fitting end to my homage to a long ago time with the imperative to “make love not war.”
“We thought we could change the world with words like love and freedom,” but we might have been overly optimistic.
Where there is life there is how and better late than never would rarely be more true.
Thank you for your kind words.
Yes!
Anya,
Thanks for the affirmation!
Larry
