America, America sweet land of liberty,
America, with love we sing this hymn to thee.
We are your sons, your daughters, and your citizens, the true sovereigns.
We vow to be optimistic, valiant, and ever true;
America, America, we pledge our love and loyalty to you.

A Star Spangled Banner waves throughout this land we love.
Now humbly we vow.
That we shall rise above,
The fears, suspicions, and resentments plaguing us from shore to shore,
They dishonor our Republic and all that it stands for:
A more perfect union, justice, tranquility and so much more.

We are living out the quest that founding patriots with deeds of valor wrought;
America’s promise and its challenge remain ours to this day —
A tribute to the ones now gone, but who struggled and who fought
for a Republic that to its own ideals stays staunchly true,
America, America, we pledge our love and loyalty to you.

With fire in every heart,
WE, THE PEOPLE stand as one;
Our next great chapter now has just begun.
Affirming our allegiance, resolved that we shall overcome
we proclaim each day anew:
America, America, we pledge our love and loyalty to you.

The video below shows what power to the people, the ultimate sovereigns in the Republic looks like and why it is vital. It makes the point that America belongs to the People, not the highest bidders and most facile liars.

It is also a great song!

About the Author:

  • “We the People” are the first three words of the preamble identifying those responsible for upholding the foundations of the American Constitution. In the theory of the Framers, the people, or the citizenry, were the true sovereigns and source of legitimacy for any government.

    Their intent, articulated by framers of the document, is laid out in the remainder of the preamble, thus: “in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity.”
