ReMoved is a touching story told in the form of a short film. Please continue to read a brief take by me analyzing my response to ReMoved.
The film ReMoved revolves around Zoe, brilliantly portrayed by Abby White, about a young girl struggling with her world being taken away [ReMoved]. She is placed in the foster system. The expectation is for her to adjust to what they tell her to do and to live with strangers who have no awareness of her or who she is.
I felt such compassion for the young girl, that I wished inside I could become her guardian and eventually adopt her if it ever came to that. A Momentary fantasy on my part but felt so real.
Abby White was amazingly real playing the part of Zoe and convincing. If only those who receive children without a home could understand what they are experiencing in their minds and hearts. Their souls are being torn apart. They have no one and no place that is theirs. No place in which to feel safe.
The environment they come from is often not safe but it is familiar.
Foster homes need to be developed into places that feel like homes. And the foster parents have learned and are willing to continue to learn what to do to be great foster parents.
If I were in the same situation, I would not trust. I would test and see how the new adults responded.
This is a moving story which broke my heart, but as it progresses different things begin to happen.
Watch in awe how things develop. Some good. Some tense. But the story in this film made me cry. Not always unhappy tears.

“It would be impossible to fully understand the life and emotions of a child going through the foster care system, but this short narrative film portrays that saga in a poetic light, with brushes of fear, anger, sadness, and a tiny bit of hope.” -Santa Barbara Independent
