We like our heroes
To be honest and true
We wear our hearts
Upon our sleeves
We try to stand up for the best
From our past and press forward to achieve the new
We are Americans from the North, South, East, and West

When we speak
We have twangs and we have drawls
We mind our manners and are kind most of the time
When we come to your town
We stop and stay hello and ask how you and your family are
We are American and proud of this land and together we rise and we shine

We respect you and accept many points of view.

And we wish each good luck with whatever they do

We start our days and we’re ready to work
We’re responsible, energetic and sincere
We like to get things done
If any ever needs some help
All they have to do is ask
Because we try to stand with and reach out to everyone

It’s said our land of is one of opportunity
With our farms, our firms, and our universities
And all of those beautiful movie stars
We turn our dreams into our new realities
Into a way of life where no one is cast aside
So be strive to be happy and stay hopeful whoever you are

This poem is written to express a strong sentiment counter to the words of Mitt Romney that disparaged and cast aside nearly half our fellow citizens. We are Americans and every American matters.
