Haiku Review | In a Heartbeat | a short film

LGBTQ have always felt threatened but it felt like it was getting better. Unfortunately . we are starting to feel the threats again from those who should protect our Freedoms . Civil Rights . and Equality. The White House is blatantly encouraging Hate . Racism . Violence. The Violence is condoned by The White House in full view of the world. How do people live knowing we are not protected? Instead Neo-Nazis . White Supremacists . KKK . the Domestic Bullies born out of Slavery . Would be all too happy if we returned to those days of ownership and stifling Freedom and Equality for All. Including everyone no matter the differences. Are we supposed to stand for a Leader who is more a follower of the alt-Right. And for Goddess sake . there is no alt-Left . No one on the Left is perpetuating hate and violence.

The short film ‘In a Heartbeat’ is starting young in a great way . to break the damage the world has done toward cultivating hatred toward those unlike the norm or ourselves if we are the right ourselves . but most of us are not white and some are not straight or trying to bring back the days of old where everyone was bullied for being different. White men are shrinking from this world. They may have the power now but hopefully in the future power will be shared with everyone feeling their significance .Not shut down by groups like the KKK or Neo-Nazis or White Supremacists. Their world is fading and they just can’t stand it. They won’t accept merging into the new world being created . And the growing New World of Equality is here to stay.

I certainly don’t fit into any norms . never have . never will. The film ‘In a Heartbeat’ creates the feeling of wanting Freedom to be Free for everyone . no matter how weird and unusual you are and Who you Love. We need to #StopTheHate. We need to do it now. Every time we #StopTheHate the world gets a touch better. The healing needs to begin one moment at a time and the Time Is Now. I would like to remember the sacrifices for peace. One young woman in particular who was murdered in #Charlottesville . Heather Heyer . She Died For What She Believed In . RIP . #Resist

To change the subject a touch . I have started a new challenge on my blog ‘the secret keeper’ . I am reviewing short films in particular . and showing them on a post . [Feature Films could be part of this by using their trailers]. What I am trying to do is review the short film in Haiku . using Single . Couplet . or Triplet verses . 17 syllables . Lines would be in 5-7-5. On ‘the secret keeper’ I am inviting anyone who would like to accept the Haiku Review Challenge and write their own interpretations of the film viewed in Haiku. I just started doing it every Friday. I want to try the Haiku Review part on Expats.

I may make comments relating to the content of the films but not necessarily in any form resembling a review. The Haiku Review will be to establish my sense interpretation of the short film within the Haiku. It is experimental but I feel it is possible to convey the soul of a short or long film in Haiku. The Haiku is followed by the short film [or Feature Film Trailer]. The short films I choose will be similar to all of those I have posted on Expats Post in the past. – j.kiley

Video Appears on Off the Rails . Track 451 and will appear on ‘the secret keeperstarting 7am EST on 29th September 2017.

My partner discovered ‘In a Heartbeat’ on YouTube & told me about her post but not mentioning the title of the short film she posted. Not realizing it . I discovered ‘In a Heartbeat’ the same day on Vimeo & decided I wanted to put it on ‘the secret keeper’ under the heading of ‘Haiku Review’ . writing a Haiku to draw out what I feel best describes the short film the viewer would see. Serendipitously . we were on the same psychic wave without even knowing we would end in the same place just half a day later. Viewing the same exceptional film. [I had no knowledge she had posted the same film]. I find that to be Beyond Cool. – j.kiley
