For Robin Williams – RIP

After the cheers, and apart from the fame,
After the appearances, and beyond the acclaim,
After the torrent, then, the rainbow appears,
For living is a challenge that often endears.
After the darkness, the light shines forth,
Bidding adieu to despair and revealing true worth,
After all of the sorrows and amidst all of the pain,
True courage and kindness will step forth again.
So remember dear Robin as he was at his best,
And he will truly have triumphed in his ultimate quest.

Larry: what an elegant goodbye to one of the greatest comedians of all time. Robin Williams has been apart of my life since I was 8 years old and I have treasured many of his roles: Mork & Mindy, Good Morning, Vietnam, The World According to Garp, Dead Poets Society, Aladdin, The Bird Cage, The Fisher King, Good Will Hunting, etc… so many wonderful characters he brought to life.
I was lucky enough to see him live in DC at Constitution Hall. I recall laughing so hard I cried. He was a brilliant man.

    Seize the day!

      Thanks Katy,

This is my way of dealing with loss. Though Robin is gone his remarkable body of work lives on. We must cherish this and honor the best spirit of a great human being.

Larry this is so sweet. I was/am such a fan… I have been reading all the articles this morning through teary eyes. It’s just so sad. :( This is a lovely tribute.

      Me too Dani!

He is gone, but his spirit lives on. Though the demon of depression seems to have gotten him in the end; he has left a treasure trove of magnificent performances to cherish in his honor and memory.

A nice tribute Larry. I doubt there are many people who didn’t think Robin Williams was a huge talent with an incredible mind (his stand-up comedy shows were amazing). One of those people who made the world a bit more fun to live in and he’ll be much missed.

I still have a hard time believing he’s gone. A shining light has gone out. Thank heaven for film. At least we still have that. Good work, Larry.

I agree Melody. It is because of my personal sense of loss that I had to write this. I have used this approach before when death has hit closer to home, and it has always helped me and from what they say, others.

      Thanks!
