Limits

The House of Saud executed 47 souls today.

They say they were mostly Al Qaeda, “They Say”.

I don’t know much about that. But I do know,

beheadings, firing squads, electric chairs, and needles,

Executed by the state are no better than ISIS.

On Facebook, I watched a young American man kill,

A sweet white Samoyed by dropping her off a bridge,

To a horrible broken death on the bleak concrete below.

There are no limits to human cruelty.

Yet no limits to the beauty that surround us.

I turned off the internet and offered my hand,

To the woman I love. Together, we went out for a walk.

We prefer to witness firsthand a true Devil’s Punchbowl;

Swirling, transcending pools, with waterfalls illimitable.
