You discover me, I turn away, unknowingly
I notice you because you stand in front of me
I ask for kindness, you comply
You raise me high, but I’m afraid
You try to convince me all is good and I believe
I rely on your shoulders, you barely notice
I ask for awareness, you slowly become blind.
You desire more, I supply all that I have
You drain my soul; I struggle, silently
I believe in you, us; you admire only your prize
I ask for breathing room, you breathe in deeper
You take complete control, I am paralyzed
You are superior, I am now weak
I acquiesce to all because you wave a finger
I ask for release, you dismiss
I take a breath; I open my eyes; I listen to my heart; I speak to myself and….
I ask no more…of you.
