The Power of Peace
A Better Angel Envisioned
Past failures, disappointments, fears and frustrations are of no enduring importance.
We are well advised to forget them, let them go, and seek and savor the peace within.
Worrisome thoughts of lack and limitation are simply that – thoughts.
Remember that we have the power to see the better side and make the best of our situation.
Though we must deal with life’s challenges, we must also appreciate life’s possibilities.
No matter what is asked of us, the unique promise of our lives is worth every effort.
Let us take a peaceful moment, and feel the power of our best possibilities.
Let everyone of us use a moments’ peace to feel authentic wonder at all that yet may be.
Let us experience how good it is to be alive.
From this experience, let a sincere resolve to do and be our best flow through our minds and our world.
In moments of pure, cherished, inner peace, there is great strength.
In these moments, let us feel the strength and give it life in our lives and our world.
Let us summon a vision of a better angel.
Having done so, let us respond with a passionate intensity that swells from a peace that surpasses mundane understanding.

My favorite line: “Though we must deal with life’s challenges, we must also appreciate life’s possibilities.”
This is something I’ve only begun to realize in the last five years or so. I think for every failure I’ve had I’ve at least twice as many successes. Not a bad average if I do say so myself
Great post. Welcome to Expats!
We all need our “better angels, Larry.” Nicely done!
Jen,
Thank you for the gracious comment. I agree a two to one ratio is not bad.
When I wrote this post, I was musing about the outlook for the country and the world as well as reflecting on some recent developments in my personal sphere.
It seem at the time so easy to be submerged by the gloom that lurks just beyond the horizon. This post was first of all my reminder to myself that it is up to each of us whether we see darkness or dawn. For some reason, I cannot flawlessly remember this and need to remind myself repeatedly.
Thanks again for the kind words.
I am excited about Expats!
Larry
I agree, it IS so much easier to get lost in the abyss of sadness and despair than it is to see that one of shred of light. Still, this is something we all must try and do if we want to live the happiest life possible. I don’t think flawlessly remembering it is as important as it is to eventually do it. we have to take those small victories when they come along
Larry, I’m glad you can join us. Cheers, Dean.
Larry, thank you for bringing your better angels to Expats. In these parlous times, we need constant reminders of the good in our lives.
