Death By Music
I sit and listen ~
As the notes flay
The very skin
From my bones ~
As the memories
Come all unbidden
And unwelcome ~
And take my breath
And all my control
Away ~
I wonder if my face
Reveals my thoughts ~
My turbulent emotions ~
I remember too much ~
It’s almost more than
I can bear ~
The grief and the
Pain, and the loss
Of a love that was
Meant to last forever ~
I guess they’re not
Making forever the
Way they used to ~
Goodbye ~

Melody, WOW! Beautiful! It strikes cords deep down inside. Thank you for sharing the pain and forever love.
Frank, sometimes what the Universe sends is sad, but I wouldn’t change a moment. Better the pain than never to have known the love.
So very true! It is sad it is that way. I forgot to compliment the picture that you chose to go with the poem. Perfect selection.
“I sit and listen ~

Melody, this is sadly beautiful.
Cher, have you noticed how often sadness and beauty are intertwined? No one gets through this world unscathed. Maybe the trick is to wear your battle scars with pride. I know you understand.
So so beautiful Melody. The piece that Cher picked, spoke to me the most as well. I could see it as a soft, but sad illustration. And you’re right, beauty and sadness are often intertwined.
Thank you, TJ. I like it that my words awaken a response in you that you express in terms of your art. It’s not only beauty and sadness, but ourselves, which are often intertwined.

Wonderful, Melody.
Thank you, Katy. “They” say we’re never given more than we can bear, but sometimes I think the Universe grades on an awfully big curve.
You can say that again.
“The grief and the
Pain, and the loss
Of a love that was
Meant to last forever”
This reminds me of my first real heartbreak. I sat on the floor and cried for months about it. I rarely think about it, but when I do, there is a part of me that still stings over it.
Wonderful. Really well done.
Thank you, Jen. I know what you mean. Sometimes, as here, you get blindsided and it’s amazing how much it still hurts. This is my way of dealing. Sharing it eases the pain.
Music and lyrics have a way of unlocking vivid memories that many of us want to keep in the recesses of our minds. Unbidden and many times unwanted longings are resurrected in an instant, and we find they still can be powerful forces to torment our hearts.
Well written expression with emotion.
Music as time travel. It can take you back years, decades, and it truly can be powerful enough to take your breath away. Thank you, Theresa.
That was a beautiful portrait of a moment and experience. I can relate.
Sometimes you simply get blindsided.
Oh, how universal. Who hasn’t had a moment like this, evoked by music?
