Ocean X Team Researching Something “Really Cool” (Updated)

[media-credit name=”cnn” align=”alignleft” width=”300″][/media-credit]In a story touching the outer fringes of the mainstream, a team of explorers have made a discovery that over the course of the next few days will be revealed in detail, with photographs.  The team set off for the Baltic Sea coordinates on June 4, 2012 one year after locating a mysterious anomaly through sonar scans and remote cameras.

The team has been highly public about posting updates on the mission on Twitter and Facebook.  Speculation from a legion of interested onlookers ranges this “find” being a possible World War II dumping site to perhaps a portal to the inner world.

‘We’ve heard lots of different kinds of explanations, from George Lucas’s spaceship – the Millennium Falcon – to “it’s some kind of plug to the inner world,” like it should be hell down there or something,’ said Peter Lindberg, Co-Owner and diver, Ocean Explorer, Stockholm, Sweden.

Dennis Asberg, another Co-Owner and diver for the Ocean Explorer team, in previous interviews and statements regarding the find, maintained a conservative approach while piquing world-wide public interest, but now says, “we are confident that we found something really cool.”

The two most recent updates on the Ocean X website read:

BREAKING NEWS 2pm, The divers are now down and investigating the circle and reports from the ship say they are really amazed. There is definitely something unusual hiding at the seabed – a Mystery Beneath. More information and pictures will be released next week.

1.00 pm, Ocean X Team on site
The ship Ancylus, carrying the Ocean X Team, is now anchored above the circle-shaped object. They started to scan the seabed and they are taking samples for analyses. Due to really bad weather conditions the operation took a little bit longer than scheduled. But they are working hard and prepare to dive down there for further investigations today.

The explorers estimate this “thing” to be a 197-foot-diameter unidentified structure that sits  275 feet down on the floor of the Baltic Sea some 60 nautical miles from nearest land between Sweden and Finland.  The crew made the discovery on June 19, 2011, on the last day of a treasure hunting expedition to find sunken wrecks.

Message board poster fastnlo speculated “This anomaly is just what it appears to be, a completely round 200ft. in diameter crashed unidentified flying object such as has been seen around the world in various shapes and sizes for approximately the last 70 years by individuals, groups of people, pilots, police officers, astronauts and military personnel and tracked by radar for the same period of time.”

meirustynugget mused  “This craft lost power or due to pilot error crashed into the sea at a rate of speed high enough that it penetrated approximately 290 ft. of water and then slid on the sea floor another 1800 ft. before coming to a complete stop.  I also suggest that this crash happened recently enough in time that the trail leading to it’s resting place has not been eroded and covered up by the natural currents and movement of the sea water around it.”

Though the answer may not be as interesting as a UFO or a lost Russian submarine, the team did a magnificent job in raising the interest of investors which made the search possible.

Ocean X Team has been conducting various diving excursions in North Europe for over 20 years. Their main focus has been to search for hidden treasures such as antique high-end alcoholic beverages and historic artifacts. Some excursions include the salvaging of champagne bottles from the wreck “Jönköping” in 1997. The treasure hunters, Peter Lindberg and Dennis Åsberg, have been in the maritime industry since 1995.

15/6/2012, PRESS RELEASE

Treasure hunters confirm they have found something abnormal in the seabed

STOCKHOLM, Sweden, June 15, 2012

The Ocean X Team dove down to the circle-shaped object in the Baltic Sea and met something they never experienced before. First they thought it was just stone or a rock cliff, but after further observations the object appeared more as a huge mushroom, rising 3-4 meters/10-13 feet from the seabed, with rounded sides and rugged edges. The object had an egg shaped hole leading into it from the top, as an opening. On top of the object they also found strange stone circle formations, almost looking like small fireplaces. The stones were covered in something resembling soot.

“During my 20-year diving career, including 6000 dives, I have never seen anything like this. Normally stones don’t burn. I can’t explain what we saw, and I went down there to answer questions, but I came up with even more questions “, says Stefan Hogeborn, one of the divers at Ocean X Team.

The path to the object itself can be described as a runway or a downhill path that is flattened at the seabed with the object at the end of it.

“First we thought this was only stone, but this is something else. And since no volcanic activity has ever been reported in the Baltic Sea the find becomes even stranger. As laymen we can only speculate how this is made by nature, but this is the strangest thing I have ever experienced as a professional diver“, continues Peter Lindberg, one of the founder Ocean X Team.

Right now, scientists are examining samples from the circle-shaped object, and experts in sonar imaging are processing data from the ship to hopefully shed more light over the mysterious object.

UPDATE – JULY 01, 2012

On June 20th, the Ocean X team co-owner, Peter Lindberg, was interviewed by Linda Moulten Howe (Earthfiles, Coast to Coast writer/guest host) to clarify his team’s find.  Below are some of the quotes and a link to the said interview:

Yeah, it looks like a champagne cork. So the pillar has a smaller diameter than the circular object. It looks very strange on the sonar images.

Also noted were odd explanations of anomalies such as a hole with a 10-inch diameter captured on camera and the discovery of some black stones.

Yeah, what we know today, it’s possible.”

So we don’t know yet what they found, but the possibilities got them funded. Wouldn’t it be cool if it were a space ship? lol Interesting article.

Yeah this story has had me in its grips since last year and it was just very cool to see how the whole thing work out that they’d go out, get funded and get in there to check it out in the timetable they announced… Interesting all around. Thanks for reading!

This is intriguing the hell out of me now. I love stories like this. I am a firm believer in the idea that we have our timeline all wrong. I think mankind has been capable of doing some incredible things much longer than we (meaning scientists and archeologists) currently believe. Perhaps this thing- whatever it is -- may be something to indicate that.

I’m also a HUGE fan of “Ancient Aliens”, although I don’t believe in any of that for a second. However it’s entertaining and intriguing. Give it time, this will show up on that show -- and the Greek guy with the wild hair will make a definitive proclamation that it’s all about “extraterrestrials”. :-)

By the way: if this story intrigues you, Google the stories about the elongated skulls they found in Peru and Russia -- as well as “the Starchild” skull that they are doing DNA testing on. It’ll blow your mind.

    haha, yes!

Agreed -- Ancient Aliens is cheezy stuff but it’s really fun cheezy stuff.

And yeah I’ve looked at those other things you point to, Julian. It’s stuff like this that has kept my mind open to very interesting possibilities long beyond childhood. I think it’s a healthy fascination that challenges me to be creative in life.

    Great comments, so thanks!

This will probably be a piece of a machine lost at sea in storm while being towed. It’s nothing more than a man made object, like a grain container, or some sort of container to store material.

Well, there’s definitely a lot of speculation that these explorers are really just very good at building interest (i think the rumors are that they were granted a $5 million dollar project financing…for this “circle” project…) so the verdict is still out. Hey, I thought Prometheus was going to be the best movie in 15 years and it turned out to be meh. Kudos to their marketing plan, it worked on me. Any way, yeah there’s a possibility this may be as insignificant as a garbage spill, as spellbinding as a USO, or a completely flowery marketing plan designed to attract a viral crown they may be able to pluck investors from.

This sounds like the best job ever, would do love to do that sort of stuff. Been checking out their website; they do seem to find a lot of liquor, no bad thing I suppose. Update will be needed. No doubt i’ll end up watching a two hour film on it at 2am when it appears on youtube in the future.

..Is this where it ends??? Has some government intervened with yet another cover-up?? Are the team still alive??,…or have they been whisked off to another planet??

George, GREAT QUESTIONS. I am fed up with coverups. Seems pretty easy with all the money they got to get down, take pix come up for air and show us what you found. We live in a world of insane money brokers intent on scamming average people. I hope we get straight answer. Now.
