NO MORE FRANKENFOOD VOTE YES ON 37

On November 6, 2012 we will have the opportunity to right an egregious wrong that has been going on for far too long in our country.  In the coming weeks you will see ads that are aimed at getting you to give up your right to know what you are eating.  It should never have been legal in the first place to genetically alter the food supply and then sell it to consumers without their knowledge or consent, but somehow it has been.  It is big business make no mistake about that. Corporate giant Monsanto has been knowingly selling consumers genetically altered foods that are known to cause cancer and tumors in laboratory rats.  They are gaining control over our food supply, and we are starting to see the results.    IT HAS TO STOP!

Globally we are way behind in this arena. 50 other countries require labeling of GMOs and some even forbid their sale entirely.  Why is America allowing its citizens to be poisoned?  The simple answer is because there is profit to be made. Huge profits!, and the big corporations that have taken over our agribusiness have lots of money to lobby for no restrictions on their callous disregard for the consequences (cancers) of screwing with nature.  This is beyond frightening and the sad thing is that so many are oblivious.  Monsanto has spent 7.1 million to mislead consumers, so they can continue to sell their frankenfood to unsuspecting Americans.  Even some of our staples that we believe to be selling us healthy and organic foods are aligned with these big companies and lying to their customers.  Whole foods was recently investigated and it was found that up to 30% of their products contain GMOs.  Whole Foods despite their claims of selling healthy foods and caring about nature and the environment, does not support the labeling of GMOs. Hmmm wonder why that is?  Possibly because they could lose some of their ill gotten gains? They were also found to be selling packaged frozen vegetable products from China that they claimed were organic.  I know we are busy, and there was a time when we didn’t have to worry about our food being contaminated, but sadly those days are gone.  Now we must stand to together, and guess what? If we all go to the polls on November 6, 2012 and vote that our genetically altered foods and ingredients must be labeled, it doesn’t matter how much money Monsanto spends to try and convince us otherwise…WE WIN! It isn’t always this easy, but this time it is.  We simply HAVE to VOTE! We still have control we just have to be aware and exercise that control.  So if you’re not registered, get registered, and get your butt to polls on November 6, and VOTE YES ON 37!   Let’s take back the control over what we eat!

So that I understand, Proposition 37 would require simple labeling of genetically engineered foods. I don’t know what else may be required, but isn’t that the basic point?

Why would anyone not want an informative label on their food? Why would honest people or organizations try to deny this.

Give the people light and they will find their own way. Give the people information and they will make their own choices.

Sounds like a plan to me!

Thanks, Dani for this timely and informative article.

Yes..Larry it’s only about being able to make an informed choice. We are among the few countries that don’t currently require it..it’s all about the money. There are huge profits to be made…sighs..thank you so much for reading and commenting. :)

That is scary, indeed. I wonder what percentage of the food that we eat has been altered in some way. I’m sure some altered food is just fine, but I doubt all of it is. You’re right, we have the right to know what we’re eating!
